FEEL LIKE A KING was the first 7″ vinyl released by the Berlin based label HOTSOURCE RECORDS and we were called in to design the cover for it. The design process started with an illustrated title and an illustration of a double bass neck with a crown on it. We scanned these illustrations in, retouched and colored them. Then we cut out the forms from cardboard to give the design a 3D form. We took photos of it and destroyed the installation. We chose the picture of the destroyed cardboard installation for the back side of the record to expose the creative process that went into making it. The text and all of the info were written in TIM AHRENS’ ZALAMANDER CAPS, which is a set of OpenType fonts in six weights from light to extra bold. In a sense the font ZALAMANDER CAPS reminded us of the beautiful old broken types, like the German Fraktur.

The printed 7″ covers came in an edition of 500 pieces and were signed and numbered by the Musician himself.
